  Appointment of State Commander

TO:  Region Commanders

Article V, Section 4, of the Constitution states:

“A State Commander shall be appointed by the Region Commander and assume duties on July 1st each year.  In the event an appointment is not made, the Vice Commander-in-Chief with the area of responsibility will appoint a State Commander.  The appointee who neglects or fails to perform the duties of the office properly may be removed by the Region Commander with concurrence of the Vice Commander-in-Chief with area responsibility.  The Region Commander will be responsible for notifying National Headquarters prior to 30 June of the selection.  In those states having a departmental organization the Commanders shall be elected by such departments and take office prior to 1 July of each year”.
