The Military Order of the World Wars

  Delegates to National Convention

TO:  National Officers, Region, Department, State and Chapter Commanders

Purpose:  To clarify the voting processes and delegate selection attendant to the National Convention.  In addition, this memorandum will accelerate credentialing of delegates at the National Convention.

NATIONAL CONVENTION DELEGATES

Attention is invited to the National Constitution, Article IV, Section 1(a), which specifies the number of chapter delegates who are eligible as voting representatives, i.e., 2-delegates-at-large, plus one delegate for every 25 members or major fraction thereof, in good standing as of 30 June.  All National General Staff members are additional voting delegates.

Each chapter will select its own delegates.  The chapter commander will certify the individual(s) selected as delegate(s) in writing.  The delegate’s letter is at attachment 1 to this letter..  The delegate will handcarry this certification letter to the Convention and present it at the registration desk, at which time an identification device will be issued to permit the delegate to vote.  No chapter delegate will be provided voter identification without the presentation of a chapter verification letter.

In accordance with Article IV, Section 1(b), of the Order’s Constitution, all current serving members of the National General Staff (including General Staff Emeritus) are delegates with voting privileges.  General Staff members will identify themselves at the delegate registration desk and be provided voter identification devices.  (NOTE:  National General Staff members do not require a chapter verification letter).
