SUBJECT:
Delegates to National Convention
TO:
National Officers, Region, Department, State and Chapter Commanders
Purpose:
To clarify the voting processes and delegate selection attendant to the
National Convention. In addition,
this memorandum will accelerate credentialing of delegates at the National
Convention.
NATIONAL
CONVENTION DELEGATES
Attention
is invited to the National Constitution, Article IV, Section 1(a), which
specifies the number of chapter delegates who are eligible as voting
representatives, i.e., 2-delegates-at-large, plus one delegate for every 25
members or major fraction thereof, in good standing as of 30 June.
All National General Staff members are additional voting delegates.
Each
chapter will select its own delegates. The
chapter commander will certify the individual(s) selected as delegate(s) in
writing. The delegate’s letter is
at attachment 1 to this letter.. The
delegate will handcarry this certification letter to the Convention and present
it at the registration desk, at which time an identification device will be
issued to permit the delegate to vote. No
chapter delegate will be provided voter identification without the presentation
of a chapter verification letter.
In
accordance with Article IV, Section 1(b), of the Order’s Constitution, all
current serving members of the National General Staff (including General Staff
Emeritus) are delegates with voting privileges. General Staff members will identify themselves at the
delegate registration desk and be provided voter identification devices.
(NOTE: National General
Staff members do not require a chapter verification letter).
