RESOLUTION
The Pledge of Allegiance
WHEREAS, In 1954, the Congress of the United States reaffirmed the influence on government by a Supreme Power when it revised the Pledge of Allegiance by inserting the words "under God; and
WHEREAS, In June 2004, the Supreme Court in Newdow vs. the United States, in which the words, "under God" had been previously ruled as unconstitutional by the ninth circuit court, stated that the Plaintiff had been unqualified to challenge the Pledge of Allegiance; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That The Military Order of the World Wars in National Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, July 21-25, 2004, expresses its utmost support for the Pledge of Allegiance in its present form and voices its opposition to any further attempts to revise it; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That The Military Order of the World Wars encourages the Nation's schools to include the daily recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in regular school activities.
